A Journey though cultures.

A military brat's upbringing

I was born off base in Saudi Arabia. I lived in Saudi Arabia till i was about 10 then we moved to Malaysia. Five years later we returned to Saudi Arabia where I resided for another four years. Just long enough to earn my High school certification and IGCSE ( International General Certificate of Secondary Education). I earned some experience working as a Data Entry Operator straight out of high school. It helped me save enough money to buy my ticket to the States.

How I ended up in California

I landed in Cleveland March of 2012. I stayed with family and it helped ease the initial culture shock. I moved to Virginia 8 months later and stayed there till February 2019. I enlisted with Americorps to volunteer as a VISTA (Volunteer in Service To America) seeking an opportunity to put my technical skill to use. Americorps allows you to choose and apply to volunteer at a non-profit of your choice. To allow you to serve at a non-profit inline with your beliefs. I was accepted at a non-profit called Women's Empowerment. The Non-profit happened to be in Sacramento so I packed my bags and flew out a few weeks after accepting the assignment.
